Mists and Shadows Class

I have now produced my first pattern.

Last weekend was the first class for my Mists and Shadows pattern. The girls did a great job and had wonderful results with their layer cakes. It was a great group of girls, everyone chatting, laughing and some stitching

There was 4 girls in the class and 3 bought Morning Tea. Yummy. We stopped for morning tea and not for lunch. Just look at all the food.

Great work girls, I would like to see the girls again when the tops are done. I don't expect completed as I don't get quilts finished myself.

You can get my pattern from The Patchwork Angel

It's was my Birthday AGAIN!!

Boy doesn't the year just fly by. I still have to print out the photo's from last years (40th) Birthday and the next one has rolled around.

My birthday was last Friday, one of my days at the Patchwork Angel. It was quite busy all day and my phone kept beeping with text messages, which was lovely but I didn't get to reply to until later at night. I am sorry for the late reply guys. My husband had gone to the AC/DC concert in Brisbane the night before so no cup of tea in bed. I did get flowers from the girls at work. We headed out for a lovely dinner, cause no way was I cooking, with just the four of us and then home early for ice cream.

I then had my family come up for lunch on Sunday. They all live in Brisbane, which is about 1 ½ hours drive south of me. We had not seen each other since Christmas so there was lots to catch up on.

Everyone had good news and some bad news to share. We all got a chance to share and listen, support and comfort and laugh and cry. It was all very relaxed and wonderful.

Mum got a medallion for 25 years of work with the State Government, new plans for the back deck roof. She brought up stuff from home that belonged to one of my sisters, she was not sure who's, and I'm not sure I would of claimed them if they were mine. There was a G String leotard from the nineties – Avril claimed them and then put them on over her clothes – gee what a sight that was.

Avril was showing us the beautiful beads and jewelry she has made since last time. She makes the beads from scratch with rods of glass that look like lolly sticks in her studio at home. Heather was her model for the day. Avril has an ETSY shop for her beads plus some pieces are going on display at Southbank later this month. Avril is in the green top and Heather in the white top.

I had gotten an email from a sister for my birthday wish list during the week. I have a lot of trouble with that. I don't need anything, nor do I expect anything. I things I would like are all quilting related and that can be difficult for the Non-Quilter to find, get or know what it even is. So I put in a request for secondhand, vintage crockery. It had to have pink on it somewhere and only if they had time to look. I currently have a cream dinner set that my MIL gave me before she was my MIL and it has survived very well over that last 17 years, but a change is needed, but I have issues about throwing things out when they are still in good condition. So my plan is to incorporate the vintage finds in with what I have. Then when the vintage gets to the point where I have enough for 12 people then the cream set will then be donated to charity.

Well, Mum, Chrissie and Heather went secondhand shopping and had fun. Chrissie said she could easily be a collector, if she just had the room. She got me the two small coffee cups with saucers. Heather found 2 matching tea cups and saucers and Mum found the lovely pink plates. On her way to my house, Mum stopped at a garage sale IN MY STREET and picked up the pink bowl.

Avril made me the gorgeous pink bead necklace.

I am really lucky to have my Mum and sister, I thought it was wonderful that they spent the time searching for the right gift for me at places that are not in their normal routine or comfort zone. But they all sounded excited about their adventure into the world of vintage shopping and hopefully did not spend a lot of money either.

Thank guys for a wonderful birthday.

Love

Normal Service has resumed

The past few weeks technology has not been my friend. Both computers were out of service at the same time. I had to replace the hard drive on the desktop, so when it came back and I stopped crying over lost photos and notes for classes and my iTunes playlist is gone, I spent days loading programs back on and passwords and printers and, and , and.

Then I could not locate the cable for connecting my camera to the computer, so I couldn't get to my photos's. I now have a Card Reader - you know the thing that has different slots for all the memory cards that then connects to the computer.

So now I am back up and running. The kids are doing their homework and I am supervising from over the laptop, while doing my blog (homework)...

Firstly, I have a couple of photos of Carol's quilts, I got done a couple of weeks ago. These are for twins, born last week. Mum and babies were doing well last I heard. I loved the Nine patch.

Every Australia Day Long Weekend we go camping with several other families for hot days of water skiing and playing. This is the last days of the kids school holidays each year and we have one last play before the school routine starts again. This year I kept forgetting to get the camera out for the skiing shots. But did get photos of the local wildlife.

We had a Dingo in the campground that had a shoe fetish. If you left shoes out at night they would be gone by morning. We found his den and a cache of chewed up shoes during the day, retrieved ours and didn't leave them out again. We spotted him at dusk chasing the local birds. I thought he caught one but it turned out to be a shoe.

Here are the birds I thought the dingo was going to eat.

We also caught alot of Red Claw Yabbies - they were lovely for dinner that night. The kids had a great time playing with them also.

We had the kids back at school last week. Every year on the first day my hubby and I take them down to the beach for ice cream and a run in the sand and tell us about their new teachers and class mates. I told my son that we will be doing this even when he is in high school (next year).

Right we have all finished our homework and now time for a play before dinner.

Till next time

Two Quilts This Week

Hi All

Well I'm excited, I got my first comment today. Thank you very much.

The first quilt done this week was from a customer, Julie, she has two I need to do for her but this one was needed this week. It is a birthday gift for a family member next week and the binding still has to be done.

Anyway, i was very happy how it turned out. The Pantograph we chose just fitted in nicely with the blocks....

Next one is an applique with lovely fairies for a clients daughter. This is her first quilt that has taken a little while to do she told me, but has managed to do other quilts in between appliquing. I'm not sure if I have done enough quilting for her, I will find out this week.

Here is look at a project I'm working on to teach, when I get it done. Hopefully around Easter. It uses up scraps and will be for the caravan "Bluebell". I am doing a theme of quilts this year for the caravan using up my scrap stash - lol.

Have a good week everyone.

Welcome to my 1st post

Gosh, a blank screen...

Welcome to my blog and thank you for stopping by. Where do I start.

As my blog suggests I am a quilter and it is my passion. I hope to share my quilts and misadventures with quilts with you. I have topics going around in my head and am not sure where to start.

At the moment I am finishing the binding on my last quilt. This is called Mists and Shadows. I used Moda Layer Cakes from the Evening Mist range and a classic block with an extra step. This makes the quilt look harder than it really is. I hope to teach this quilt at The Patchwork Angel this term.

I am a Longarm quilter and enjoy quilting for other people, but the down side is that I have a large collection of tops needing to be quilted. I hope to get these done throughout the year and to show you pictures along the way. This means my UFO/WIP list is not accurate at this stage. I will correct it as I find them all, and there are enough.

The Photos on my flickrstream are from my recent trip to Houston Quilt show. WOW. If you have the opportunity to go - GO!!

My family and I have just had our christmas camping trip to a waterskiing dam about 1hour from us. We had a great time even though we got rained on everyday.

I know this is all very random but I will try to improve along the way, please be patient and I hope to reward you with quilting pictures.

Take Care

Happy Stitching
